World, Welcome Daphne Mir to JimOnLight.com!

JimOnLight.com has grown beyond a point where Jim from JimOnLight.com can do it alone and still have a functioning body and mind.  Hahahaa, I have been trying, it’s freaking impossible!  I have dedicated JimOnLight.com to bringing you the best that the world of lighting can offer, and I’m adding another well-known personality to the site as a staff writer for your eternal enjoyment!  World, welcome Daphne Mir to the site – she’s going to be writing what she sees fit in the blogopshere about light, her experiences in life, and her travels worldwide!

Daphne is joining my stellar crew of excellent people who are dedicated to showing the world how important light is, and how we can enjoy it while learning about one of the most complex things in our universe!  Daphne is on Twitter as everyone’s favorite @lekogirl, and her personal blog at lekogirl.com.  You can reach Daphne now on the contact page and at daphne [at] jimonlight.com.

She joins me, Jax, and David in trying to take over the world of light!  Or, as I like to call us, three of the coolest mophos with glasses EVAR:

DAPHNE!  What are you doing right now???  Tell the world where you are, what you’re doing there, and what’s coming up!  GO!

Hello world! A couple years ago I sent Jim a link to a lamp illuminated by steeping a tea bag, and he posted it on JOL. I was so ecstatic that something I had discovered was being shared with the world. And now, I get to have that feeling ALL THE TIME!

I am a student at CalArts, and have just started a foreign exchange at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. I am extraordinarily curious, and fascinated by the entire universe. I hope to both learn, and share knowledge of light in all its forms worldwide, in the vast space beyond, and even in new worlds created by artists like ourselves! If there’s something that you find inspiring, or want to know more about, give me a shout! I just bought a Sherlock Holmes deerstalker, so I am ready to sleuth out solutions to your lighting curiosities and quandaries. As my new Scottish friends say, “Cheers, mate!”

Awesome.  Daphne’s first post is coming up tomorrow morning, so be sure to tune in and check it out!!!

A Big JimOnLight.com Community Welcome to Some Absolutely Awesome People

I have made some changes lately to the way things are done here at JimOnLight.com and Light Associated Media, LLC.

I have been so busy doing all of the stuff that prevents me from writing like I used to be able to write – I miss the sheer volume of time I used to be able to spend just researching and writing!  I’m sick and tired of not being able to do that, so I have reached out into the JimOnLight.com Community to get some help with the day-to-day operation of JimOnLight.com and the Light Associated Media Network (Jobs.JimOnLight.com, bulbr.com, and the JimOnLight.com Newsletter – YEAH!  We do a newsletter, too!)

As you already know, Jax Steager from San Francisco functions as the JimOnLight.com Executive Assistant, helping me at conventions and conferences, and generally helps me keep my stuff together.  Jax also writes on JimOnLight.com from time to time – we’ll be seeing her a lot more in the coming months.

I’ve also started to put together a JimOnLight.com Executive Advisory Board.  The first member that has accepted is Rick Hutton from InLight Gobos – Rick is a close friend, and his feet are rooted in this industry from the bottom up.  Rick is a valuable resource as a friend and as someone tied into the industry.  I asked him for technical advisory, and to spearhead the board.

The latest member of the JimOnLight.com Team is the fantastic Mr. David Fox, Day Crew on Cirque du Soleil’s in Las Vegas, as well as a smart dude and developer (pictured on the left with Jim and Erik Walstad from KA).  David is going to become the Chief Web Strategist for JimOnLight.com.  We’ve been very fortunate to have Leia Scofield developing JimOnLight.com for several years – Leia is one of the best web developers in the Dallas/Fort Worth area, if not one of the best in the South.  Leia’s still doing development for JimOnLight.com, but we’re trying to move stuff over to David to lighten Leia’s load.  I’m so fortunate to have Leia’s expertise on the site!  I’m also glad to now have David’s input on the site!

More coming soon – please join me in saying HEY HI! to the new people, and to Jax!

Jax Steager Joins the JimOnLight.com Team – Welcome Jax!

JimOnLight.com is growing so fast.  SO fast.  I have my irons in so many fires right now that most days I think the world is exploding!  We still have two more monster projects to roll out before the Fall, so life will get even more interesting here very, very soon.

People at conferences are talking – and they’re saying incredible things about the website.  At NAB, I overheard someone say that JimOnLight.com is “the number one lighting industry go-to resource,” and at LightFair this year, in addition to being warmly welcomed by everyone I talked to, I was told that the JimOnLight.com Community is one to be respected and trusted.  You folks are the best thing about this website – your desire to learn and to read about things that are going on is amazing, incredible, and outstanding!  Thanks for making this place the most awesome place!

To make sure that my head doesn’t asplode anymore, I have asked Jax Steager (@batfishlighting on Twitter) to come on board and act as my Executive Assistant.  Jax will be appearing on the website from time to time, she’ll be commanding some other stuff, and she’ll become a welcome face on the site.  Make sure that everyone welcomes Jax with open arms to our awesome community!

Everyone, on 3:

WELCOME, JAX!
