Let’s Have A Revolution of The Mind in 2013

Happy New Year 2013

HAPPY NEW YEAR, everybody!  Well if it isn’t a miracle – we survived the end of the world (twice now I think in 2012, once was the failed prediction by that guy Jack Van Impe), AND the 2012 Presidential Election, as well as many other completely ridiculous things that happened in 2012.  Notice that the US Congress “passed” the bill that saves us from the big scary “Fiscal Cliff” in the US.  Ah, good times, living the dream.

I really want to start being a better human being in 2013, both for myself and for humanity.  I hope that the world starts to see the ways that we’re getting out of hand, and I hope that there is a grand fundamental revolution of the mind, as Jiddu Krishnamurti put it back several decades ago.  Am I a dreamer?  Yes, of course I am.  But I have great dreams that are good and just and full of billions of people being happy.  They are great dreams.  In our lifetimes, I hope that we reach this new level of awareness, of consciousness that comes with all of us living together in some kind of harmony.  That would certainly be a start, right?

Got a few minutes?  Watch this video, then watch the second part.  Just watch it.  This is what it means to have a revolution of the mind.  We need to all understand that we are the teacher and the student; we are the problem and the solution.

Let’s work together to be closer to being a civil civilization in 2013.  I’m all for it. We owe it to ourselves to be something we can all be proud of, even if it means a fundamental change in our forward vision. I believe that we can do it together.

A Short LDI Walkthrough

Happy Tuesday morning, everyone!

I put together this short LDI walkthrough for those who weren’t there – it’s only 3 minutes and it’s not all-inclusive, but I think you’ll dig it anyway.  There’s nothing political, nothing about war, nothing about the Presidential election — it’s just pure light enjoyment!  Check it out!

A Quick New Years’ Eve Lighting Story

Happy New Year, everybody – as always, sh*t is kicking here at the Light Associated Media, LLC headquarters in Oklahoma City – soon to be relocating to Toronto, Ontario!  I can’t tell you why just yet, but it’s coming.  And it’s awesome.

But that’s not what this is about, this post is about an awesome story of two lighting designers hanging out on New Years’ Eve 2012.

So Jefferson Waful is lighting Umphrey’s McGee, as he does, and with fervor might I add, and I am there documenting the show, documenting Jefferson, and hanging out with my good friend Jefferson all at the same time.  On the 31st, during a particularly outstanding set in which not only the band and audience were all in step, but the lighting design and the audio engineering were the stuff of aural and visual dreams.  Right at the start of a song called “Ocean Billy,” Jeff turns to me and says into my ear:

This is my favorite song to run lights for.”

Guess what?  it’s now my favorite song for Jefferson to run lights for, too.  If you’re ready for your face to get rocked off and see why this is Jefferson’s favorite lighting delivery tune, watch the video below.

Pardon me while I pick up my face.

POLL: Who’s Your 2012 Presidential Hopeful?

I’m traveling a lot this month.  Something that gets even worse as I travel is my addiction to the complete waste of time we Americans call “politics.”

I watch and listen to a lot of CNN while I’m traveling – it seems like every airport television is tuned to either CNN, MSNBC, or Fox News.  Right now there is a lot of talk on the news about how no one in the US Senate and House of Representatives can agree on anything (even though their own people assigned a select committee on solving our fiscal crisis and failed straight up);  how the American people are getting the short end of the stick on every path imaginable while the seven or eight people who have all of the money get to do anything they want anywhere;  last and perhaps most vomitous is the travesty that the Government is about to throw down to the American people that will then be spoon-fed with a silver spoon to the Telecomm giants – the Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA).

Ah, memories.

So, all of that being said, have you been watching the Presidential Candidates’ Debates lately?  Who are you rooting for at this point to lead our country down the mountain peak road we’re on with no guard rails and no brakes on the bus we’re all riding?  Please participate in the poll, I am very interested in the political leanings of the huge group of people across this great planet that is the JimOnLight.com Readership!
