I wouldn’t have believed it until I saw good ol’ Vanilla Ice (otherwise known to us Bloodhound Gang fans as Rob Van Winkle) standing next to the people at Capitol Lighting as they unveil his six piece inaugural chandelier and sconce line.  Many of you already know that Mr. Vanilla Ice is the host of a hit show on the DIY Network called The Vanilla Ice Project.  Apparently he’s designing lighting now.  From a post at Residential Lighting Magazine:

“I have always had a passion for home design, renovations and real estate,” says Rob Van Winkle, aka Vanilla Ice. “I’ve always envisioned creating my own line of home décor products, and after working with the Capitol Lighting team for several years it was a perfect fit to begin with lighting fixtures.”

Vanilla Ice and Capitol Lighting have worked together on partnerships including the “Making Lives Brighter” campaign where the rapper/designer was the spokesperson and filmed a PSA to bring awareness to Habitat for Humanity. Customers donated their old lighting fixtures to any Capitol Lighting showroom in South Florida and New Jersey to be repurposed in a Habitat home or sold at one of their Re-Stores.

“The Capitol Lighting family is honored to have such a wonderful relationship with Vanilla Ice and be able to showcase his lighting line exclusively in our showrooms,” says Eric Lebersfeld, President of Capitol Lighting. “He is a true part of the Capitol Lighting team and brings a special eye for home design.”

I had no idea.  However, I had to see this video:

The sconces run between $125 and $400, and the chandeliers in Vanilla Ice’s repertoire start around a grand and go to $1500 bucks.  Check them out:
