Zoetrope Light Toys

I ran across these this morning – they’re zoetrope night light things!  Remember the zoetrope from learning about the eye and light and such?  It’s that spinning device with the slits in the sides that make the image appear to be moving.  Obviously the image doesn’t move, but since the apertures in the side make you see a blur to the overall edges of the images, you are able to see the “motion” of the image, like a flip book.  From Wikipedia:

The company is a division of Bandai Namco – Banpresto.  Their site is in Japanese, FYI.  The toy is called the Twinklepict, and it’s coming out soon, but I haven’t seen them retail yet. I think they’re going to be in the neighborhood of $32-33 bucks.
