Did You Participate in Earth Hour 2009?

Posted by Jim - March 28, 2009 - DIY, JimOnLight.com, Just Plain AWESOME., Light and Photography, Light Art, Lighting for Enjoyment!

After convincing my wife that she would have a blast, we turned the lights off, we shut down the computers and other gear, and we participated in Earth Hour 2009.  We decided to try our hand at some light art – in our case, novice art.  I'm a lighting designer, but this is a whole separate ballgame!

Starring yours truly, my lovely wife Leia, and Gracie the Beagle.  I hope you enjoy our goofy efforts!

it is EXTREMELY fun! I found myself filing down the lenses on some of my little handheld LEDs to get less camera glare and brighter image burn with the drawing. I would love to chat with you sometime for my podcast about light painting. Are you interested?

Did You Know?

LED lights can have a lifetime of 50,000 hours or more in continuous operation. Depending on how many hours-a-day they are operating, that can be anywhere from 6 to 7 years to as many as 20 to 30 years.
