The Stimulus Package: How’s It Affecting Lighting?

After posting about how Colburn’s Amendment 175 was grouping such a wide bunch of topics to be excluded together in the Economic Stimulus Package that was passed and signed, I wanted to know the final outcomes of who and what was cut out – especially in our beloved lighting industries.  It’s a scary thing to me, quite frankly – people who voted on it have said that they didn’t even read the new package, which kinda makes me want to puke.

    • I’ve found a handful of links to stories about the Stimulus Package.  I hope these are useful to you all.  If you want to read the 1000+ page Stimulus Bill, it’s listed here.
    • Stimulus Watch is a website that tracks the changes and lists the items in the Bill.  I did a search on Stimulus Watch for the query “lighting” and got four very long pages of information.  I highly recommend checking it out.
    • LightNow has an article posted yesterday about some of the items that will affect the lighting industries in the current Stimulus Bill.  One of the things that surprised me was that LEDs and their research got boned in the package.  I would have thought that would have been a biggie.

    Politics makes me sad.

UPDATE: Here’s an article from The Consumerist on what the Stimulus Bill has for everyday Amerians.  Check it out.
